KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Under the hierarchical supervision of the Field Manager and the functional supervision of the Capital WASH Coordinator, the PHP officer is in charge of the planning and implementation of activities and initiatives for promoting health and hygiene and community participation defined in the project.
CONTEXT
A political crisis within the Government of South Sudan which began on 15th December 2013 has spilled over into armed conflict based on ethnic divisions. The result of this has been significant movement as people have fled their homes within the capital, Juba, and other areas affected by fighting.
Oxfam is already based and working in several existing humanitarian programs in the Country and currently running a humanitarian response emergency to the on-going crisis in Awerial and Jonglei.
FUNCTIONS
Design a PHP strategy for 2015 program of Oxfam in the area with WASH Coordinator
Participation in the preparation, planning and performance of the health and hygiene promotion and community participation activities of the project.
Managing the health and hygiene and community participation technical team in their charge. Selection, supervision, training and/or coaching and evaluation of the personnel under their responsibility.
Selection of the material and equipment resources for the health and hygiene promotion and community participation activities with suitable technical specifications and assuring quality.
Define indicators ensure the collection of data and statistics and implement monitoring systems to supervise and evaluate the impact of the health and hygiene promotion activities.
To attend the health and hygiene promotion co-ordination meetings of the area. To inform and co-ordinate the health and hygiene and community participation activities with the other agencies and actors carrying out similar activities.
To write the necessary reports and participation in drafting new proposals on the development of activities of health and hygiene.
REQUIREMENTS
Academic brackground in Public health, environmental health, community development, water and sanitation for developing communities.
Knowledge in Health and Hygiene promotion, participative methodologies with communities (or other studies of community participation in co-operation and/or humanitarian aid), in behaviour change communication framework.
At least 3 years professional experience on the field
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work and live in a challenging working and living environment. Be part of a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary team.
IT: user level.
Desirable requirement: Experience in trainer training, team management, project cycle, knowledge of water and sanitation-related diseases.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duration: 3 months (extendable)
Annual Gross remuneration: 27.930, 67 Euros
Medical, life and accident insurance provided.
Holidays: 27 working days per year 2014
Working place: Minkaman, Awerial Region, South Sudan
Starting date: As soon as possible
Non accompanied post.
