Agriconsulting is looking for a Forests and Carbon Inventory expert for the EU funded project “Technical Assistance for the REDD+ and capacity building project in Sierra Leone”
Qualifications and skills
-A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in forestry (or natural resource/ environmental management) or related disciplines e.g. biometrics, statistics, geography. Post-graduate qualification in a related field will be additional value.
-Additional qualifications in education/training, training of trainers, lecturing or provision of extension services would also be added value.
General professional experience
- A minimum of 8 years of proven experience in designing and implementing forest inventories and/or forest carbon stock inventories in developed or developing countries.
- Experience in implementing sustainable forest management practices will be an added advantage.
- Proven experience in transferring analytical inventory results into simple and workable modules.
- Excellent oral and written presentation and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in GIS/remote sensing software and MS Office applications.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
Specific professional experience
- A minimum of 2 years of proven experience of practical experience with using appropriate technology, i.e. GIS and remote sensing techniques for forest and carbon inventories, ground-truthing and mapping.
- Proven experience in training field staff in forest inventory techniques, including GIS proficiency.
- Direct experience working with projects related to international climate change, and specifically, REDD+ developments and discussions is an added value for this position.
- Experience in producing training materials, guidelines and manuals.
The assignment should start in February 2015 and the period of implementation will be of 14 months**. The expert will be required for 13 months.**
