Agriconsulting is looking for a Forest Management for REDD+ mainstreaming expert for the EU funded project “Technical Assistance for the REDD+ and capacity building project in Sierra Leone”

Qualifications and skills

-A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in forestry or related discipline (e.g. natural resource/ environmental management). A post-graduate qualification in a related field will be additional value to this position.

-Additional qualifications in education/training, training of trainers, lecturing or provision of extension services would also be added value.

General professional experience

  • A minimum of 8 years working experience in forest management or related field e.g. natural resource or environmental management, including experience in national preparations for REDD+ mechanisms. Experience in Africa and in the natural resources/environmental sector will be added values.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a position of mentoring or training or advising, and proven ability to ensure the transfer of knowledge and skills at a broad based level relevant to forest policy and practice.
  • Experience in designing and delivering effective multi-stakeholder consultation around natural resource use and rights would be an added value.
  • Experience in advising government officials and fostering inter-institutional relations would be a further advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Specific professional experience

  • A minimum of 2 years engaged in REDD+ development and/or implementation or REDD+ related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in implementing sustainable forest management practices.
  • A minimum of 4 years of proven experience in delivering technical training and capacity building to a range of different stakeholders in particular government departments involved in forest management.
  • A minimum of 4 years of proven experience in organizing and facilitating seminars and workshops.
  • Proven experience in preparing work plans, overseeing project or programme implementation and monitoring progress to targets, including financial targets.

The assignment should start in February 2015 and the period of implementation will be of 14 months**. The expert will be required for 13 months**
