The Australian Government, through AusAID, is committed to broadening and deepening its engagement with African countries and institutions. The goal of the AAPF is to develop partnerships between Australia and African countries that contribute to achieving African countries’ development priorities.
Cardno Emerging Markets (Australia) Pty Ltd, through the AAPF, is seeking a Key Project Manager to oversee the implementation of current AAPF activities with a focus on completion and transition arrangements, whilst achieving quality development and relationship results basis.
The contractor will:
- Manage the implementation of AAPF activities, directly and via sub-contractors, reporting on progress to the Facility Manager. This is to include:- Ensuring compliance with Facility M&E and Reporting Requirements- Managing activity budgets- Ensuring development and partnership/relationship results of activities are achieved.
- Manage, participate in and oversee project appraisal, scoping and design activities utilising Africa Program Support Group and other Technical Consultants consistent with AusAID and AAPF priorities.
- Contribute to the development of the AAPF and related AusAID programs, the preparation of AAPF data, reports and communications, and to AusAID quality processes (e.g., Annual Program Performance Reports).
- Participate in AAPF progress or completion evaluations.
- Manage the AAPF Communications Consultant and associated activities.
- Manage the process of collecting and collating all ‘AusAID-managed’ activities reporting, acquittal, outcomes and other data.
- Provide activity implementation and M&E advice and technical assistance to implementing agencies, in all cases maximising access to APSG and other technical support resources.
- Participate in strategic meetings on the AAPF with the AAPF and AusAID
The ideal candidate should have:
- Post graduate degree, ideally in development, project management, economics, agriculture, or other disciplines related to the AAPF.
- Project Management specialist with 10 years’ experience in the management, coordination and delivery of international development programs or projects. Familiarity with Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) funded projects preferred.
- Proven high level communication, organizational, negotiation and teamwork skills, and ability to manage and mentor staff.
- Proven problem solving and issue resolution skills
- Excellent written and spoken English and English report writing skills.
- A high level of computing skills, including the ability to use applications in word processing (MS Word), financial spreadsheet (MS Excel) and project management (MS Project).
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines yet at high quality.
Desirable
- Ability to converse in French or Portuguese an advantage
- Experience in Africa an asset
Duration: October 2013 to June 2014
Travel within Africa and Australia may be required.
