About the Programme

DFID DRC, in partnership with Girl Hub, has launched a new gender programme with a focus on the economic empowerment of adolescent girls. La Pépinière (meaning ‘greenhouse’ or ‘incubator’) takes a multidimensional approach (at programme, policy and organisational levels) to improving the situation of women and girls in DRC, with a particular focus on adolescent girls and economic empowerment. The overarching objective of the programme is to economically empower adolescent girls through innovations focused on Kinshasa and Kasai Occidental provinces.

Scope of Work

Integrity is bidding for this opportunity and seeking short and long-term experts specialising in the economic empowerment of adolescent girls in the DRC. We are currently recruiting for the positions listed below.

Role: Team Lead

Profile

  • Relevant work experience in DRC, and/or Francophone Africa more broadly
  • At least 10 years experience working in one (or more) of the possible technical areas in this project
  • Demonstrated ability to provide Duty of Care and manage complex projects in fragile environments
  • Demonstrated understanding of DFID and other donor’s related DRC portfolio
  • Experience and in-depth understanding of gender in fragile contexts
  • Experience and in-depth understanding on working on women and girls’ economic empowerment, in particular networks/associations of informal workers and adolescent girls
  • Experience managing large-scale donor programmes in DRC
  • Experience of DFID programming
  • Experience with fund/grant management, especially in fragile and conflict affected states

Role: Monitoring and Evaluation Experts

Profile

  • Experience and understanding of Francophone Africa context, preferably in DRC
  • At least 7 years experience in designing and implementing monitoring an evaluation frameworks in DRC and/or other fragile and conflict-affected states
  • Experience of behavioural change, social norm change and how to monitor and evaluate this.
  • Demonstrated capacity to design and implement research including evaluation, participatory M&E and research into action, using a range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Experience and in-depth understanding of gender in fragile contexts
  • In-depth understanding of women and girls’ economic empowerment, in particular networks/associations of informal workers and adolescent girls.
  • Experience designing and implementing baseline and perception surveys in DRC and/or other fragile and conflict-affected states
  • Demonstrated understanding of developing M&E frameworks for DFID programmes (desirable)

Role: Qualitative and Quantitative Research Experts

Profile

  • Experience and understanding of Francophone Africa context, preferably in DRC
  • At least 7 years designing and implementing qualitative and/or quantitative research projects
  • Experience of the following technical tasks in fragile environments:
  • o Sampling methods and processes
  • o Tool design
  • o Programming of instruments
  • o Data cleaning
  • o Quantitative analysis and statistics
  • o Qualitative analysis
  • o Training local researchers on research skills
  • Demonstrated experience applying mixed methods to complex development problems
  • Capacity to design research approaches on adolescent girls programming and to conduct operational research
  • Experience designing and implementing girl-led participatory research.

Fluency in French and English is required for all roles.
