For the most successful bidding of our education program in the ****Central African Republic (CAR)****, Cordaid is looking for an

****Education Program Coordinator****

The selected candidate should be willing to sign a statement confirming his/her present intention to serve in the stated position and his/her present. A contract will be offered in case of a successful bid.

****Introduction****

Cordaid has been working for more than 10 years in the Central African Republic (CAR) and since 5 years in the field of education with an approach of Results Based Financing (RBF).

For improving the quality of our activities in education, to build capacity within the Ministry of Education and to lobby into the Ministry and into technical and financial international partners, Cordaid is looking for an Education Program Coordinator.

The Education Program Coordinator will work in the Cordaid Office in Bangui.

****Position and responsibility****

The Education Program Coordinator provides:

  • Overall technical expertise on the expansion of equitable access to formal education, girls education, education of vulnerable groups, education in conflict and fragile contexts, education policy and research, provides overall technical and administrative leadership and expertise for the education;
  • Puts fundraising methods and products and services into fundraising plans to create willingness to give and to obtain a position with donors for program in the field of Education;
  • Scans calls of donors pro-actively in relation to the Business Unit strategy and the Cordaid country strategy. Signals and analyses developments with potential donors and formulates acquisition plans according to the goals;
  • Formulates lobby goals based on trends from own project package. Works out a lobby plan and invents and develops activities in consultation with the Country Director and the Business Unit manager to implement the lobby.

He/she will work under the direction of the Cordaid Country Director and in full collaboration with the Cordaid, Child and Education Unit in the Cordaid-head- office in the Hague.

He/she shall ensure that program components are results-oriented, ensure high quality technical deliverables that feed into reporting are timely and focused on results.

****Qualifications****

  • A master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) required in education, educational psychology with a specific specialization related to the program (A master’s degree in a related but non-education degree may be considered if the candidate has had the requisite professional experience);
  • At least eight years’ experience in the education sector with INGO’s;
  • Experience in preparation of project designs, strategic planning and implementation of related activities to improve access and improve education quality;
  • Experience with implementing education programs in conflict and conflict affected settings, improving access for girls and vulnerable populations, and implementing in-service teacher training;
  • Experience in Africa, French speaking education systems, and programs that have implemented similar interventions in the CAR or conflict affected country in the past are preferred;
  • Have demonstrated a successful track record in implementing comprehensive and complex education interventions in complex settings and achieving results;
  • Knowledge of socio-economic and socio-political structures, lobby, finance channels and donor requirements;
  • Fluent in French and English;
  • The necessary managerial skills in addition to technical and analytical skills to track, monitor, and coordinate the various components while providing quality control to implementation of activities.

Contract information

The contract period is for 12 months starting as soon as possible, with the intention to extend for a longer period. We offer a Cordaid contract with a competitive salary and a benefit package which includes R&R, a comprehensive insurance cover, social security and pension contribution and a holiday allowance.

Specifics of station

The Education Programme Coordinator will be based in Bangui, in the Cordaid CAR main office. He/she will travel regularly to partner organisations in identified regions in CAR for project monitoring and coordination meetings. The safety and security situation in CAR remains volatile, but is constantly monitored by Cordaid and appropriate policies are in place. This is a non-accompanied posting.
